Hello fellow Shipmates

Greetings from your planning committee.
We are excited about visiting an old port-'Edgewater' hotel in the Great Smoky Mountains- where we had so much fun! We hope that all of our shipmates are as thrilled about going to our reunion as the Planning committee! We want to make this reunion the “ biggest and best” reunion ever!!

Hotel/Reservation Information:When you make your reservations, please notify the hotel that you are part of the USS LEAHY MILITARY REUNION GROUP. The hotel and reservations phone NUMBER is 865-436-4151 or 899-423-9582 and the address is P.O. Box 170, 402 Rive Road, Gatlinburg TN 37738. Our hotel is conveniently located downtown within walking distance to all the shopping and exciting attractions of Gatlinburg. The hotel features: newly renovated rooms; complimentary hot breakfast at 0700hrs;WI-Fi ;bi-level parking; heated indoor/outdoor pool; non-smoking property;coffeemaker; private balconies;microwave, mini-refrigerator and etc. All reservations must be guaranteed by major credit card or advance deposit of first night room rate, plus state tax, by notifying the hotel reservations department. Cancellations are accepted with no fee, until 72 hours prior to arrival date. The hotel agrees to offer a group rate of $105 dollars a day; and they agreed to offer the group rate 2 days prior and 2 days after our reunion based on availability. So, we ask that you make your reservations as soon as possible.

Monday Sept. 20: After we docked and settled in, we will muster for a “Meet and Greet” time at 1600 hrs. to renew old acquaintances, tell sea stories, and enjoying everyone's company. There will be food and refreshments for everyone to enjoy during this time.. If any shipmate would like to bring any memorabilia for all to enjoy, please do so.

Tuesday Sept. 21: We will not have any set tour on this date, because most Shipmates we talked to wanted more time to renew old friendships; and some wanted to go shopping, touring or site seeing on their own. The Leahy Ladies will probability board trolleys or walk to the shopping area and spend all of their money and ours too. Ha! Ha! Shipmates will assemble at 0900hrs for a short meeting to discuss our next reunion. If you can, please go ahead and make your hotel reservations now. It gives us a better idea how to proceed with planning; when we can nail down how many to expect.

Wednesday Sept. 22: We will have our “Memorial Service” for our departed Shipmates at 0900hrs in our meeting room. The service will usually last approximately one and half hours. At 1800hrs, we will take short walk to Calhouns Restaurant for a “Farewell Banquet” They will be preparing a great meal for us and at a reasonable cost. We will order from the menu, and we believe you will really enjoy it.
