PLAN OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, 18 JULY 1964 AT SEA

Uniform At Sea; Officers & CPO's - Wash Khaki Trousers with Tropical Khaki Shirts and Khaki Visored Caps Enlisted - Dungarees with Blue Visored Caps
Carry out the Daily/Holiday Routine (Underway) modified as follows:
0600: Reveille. All Hands except the mid-watch and others authorized to sleep late. The smoking lamp is lighted.
0615: Reveille PO's make reveille reports to the duty MAA. CMAA report reveille to OOD on the bridge, Mess gear, clear the mess decks. Early breakfast for the mess men.
0620: Clamp down all weather decks. Polish all topside bright work, clean sweep down fore and aft, all passageways and living compartments. Empty all trash cans.
0630: Breakfast for the crew. Station the Helo Detail (If directed).
0750: All Hands to quarters for muster, inspection and instruction.
0755: Officers call.
0810: Secure from quarters. Turn to, commence field day. Prepare for upper decks inspection, Test alarms. Sick call.
----: Station the Plane Guard and Rescue Detail (If directed).
0930: Inspection Party for upper decks inspection assemble in the Wardroom.
0945: Standby all zone upper deck spaces for Captain's Inspection.
----: (Upon completion of upper decks inspection) Commence Holiday Routine.
----: (30 minutes before sunset) Prepared to darken ship at sunset except that canvas
screens will not be rigged. (If directed). SUNSET: Turn on running lights. Darken ship except for navigation lights.

2. The ship is steaming in a fast carrier task group composed of the FORRESTAL, BOSTON, MACDONOUGH, LEAHY and SELLERS enroute to the Mediterranean. The Task Group will arrive in the vicinity of Rota Spain and conduct flight ops from 24-26 July. After refueling the ship will enter the Mediterranean early on the 27th of July.

The first stop will be at Pollensa Bay on the 29th of July to relieve the BAINBRIDGE. The ship will then get underway
on the 30th and proceed to Golfo Di Palmas for a fleet conference arriving on 1 August. Following this, on 3rd of August, the ship will get underway to proceed to out first liberty port, Genoa, arriving 4 August. On 13 August, the ship leaves Genoa to take part in an amphibious exercise and will enter Theoule on 21 August. Theoule is in the vicinity of Cannes. The ship will remain in Theoule until 1 September.
