* Pictograms were the forerunner of the Leahy-Grams: Mike Ryan explains..... "We wanted to send out a message to the families of the men on board the Leahy. We thought that pictures showing the different jobs that the crewmen did was a good way to do that. We presented our idea to the Captain & XO and they thought it was a good idea. Thus started the Pictogram".
