Note: This was the LAST planned reunion for Leahy Crew Years 1962-1967

IMPORTANT - RESERVATION INFO Maps - Bath, ME SHIPMATES, Your Planning Committee always starts planning for the next Reunion immediately after we finish the last one. We just returned from Gatlinburg and already we are getting prepared for 2022. We all enjoyed BATH MAINE so much we hopefully will be returning there on Monday, September 19, 2022. We found a great location in Bath last time we were there and we are hoping to use the same hotel, because it was just right. We will also be shortening our Reunion to two days. Our plans are to arrive on Monday just as we have previously. Our Meet and Greet will still be at 1600. The biggest change will be that on Tuesday we will have our Memorial at 0900. That should conclude around 1100 and the Ladies will then go shopping while we have a short business meeting and tell lies. Our Farewell Banquet will be at 1800 and there will be nothing scheduled after that. The reason for going to two days is simple. We now get tired more easily and with travel time we simply are worn out if we try to do too much. And frankly, with the cost of hotel rooms and meals constantly going up, we feel that condensing our activities will help. We will be looking for ways to improve our stay and save money at the same time. We will still have all the same activities, just condensed. If anyone wants more time please plan on coming as early as you like, and stay as long as you want. From now on you can plan ahead far in advance. After Bath Maine, God willing, we will go to Charleston in 2023 and back to Gatlinburg in 2024 and repeat the same schedule every three years. All will begin on the third Monday in September every year.This should make it easier on everyone to put the Reunion in their schedule. The more that come, the more fun we all have. We will keep everyone updated and informed as we nail down plans. If we don't see you before then, stay safe, and God bless you.

USS Leahy Shipmates - Years 1962-1967 The 2021 USS Leahy reunion has been completed... The location was Gatlinburg, Tennesee - ------- Hello fellow Shipmates, My name is Brent O'Shields. Most of you know me . I was the guy that paid you on the Leahy. My wife Mary and I have been to most of our Reunions and we have really enjoyed seeing old friends again and meeting new ones. The reason I am reaching out to you is simple – our reunions have been so much fun for all who attended, we can't let them end. We have been shut up in our homes due to the Covid 19. Now, its time that we get out and and have some fun! When Bob, Billy and Leslie let us all know they needed to pull back and get some help to spearhead our Reunion plans, I felt the need to volunteer - So, I talked to them and they encouraged me to to go forward and they would help, if needed. I have given this task much thought and prayer, and with your approval, I will initiate plans for our 2021 LEAHY REUNION. If there are no objections, I propose that we go back to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for September 20, 21, 22, 2021. It was a wonderful location and everyone seemed to enjoy their time there! There will be only minor changes in the agenda, if any. The time of year, POD, and most activities will remain as before (previous reunion at Gatlinburg, September 2019 - SEE BELOW) . The old saying - “If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it” I have taken the liberty to check with the same Hotel and Restaurant as before, and they really want us to come back. They are very nice people! If my proposal meets your approval, we will make every effort to plan a Reunion that you will enjoy. If God is willing, we will all be there to meet with all our old shipmates! In the meantime, help me by talking it up and contacting your fellow Shipmates! (There will be periodic updates regarding activities and schedules for the reunion) -------- Hotel Info: Bob (Jeffries) has secured some really reasonable room rates. Standard with two queen beds, Handicapped, and Kings are all $ 98.00 per night, Suites are slightly higher. All are NON-SMOKING as is the entire facility. Please note: Crew Years 1962 thru 1967..... There is no 2015 reunion planned for members of the Crew from 62 thru 67 but we are in the advanced planning stages for 2016. Preliminary plans are for the Norfolk area in the Fall. SHIPMATES, THINGS ARE COMING TOGETHER FOR OUR 2013 REUNION. THERE MAY BE CHANGES BUT AT THIS TIME THIS IS OUR ITINERARY.
